4iG Space and Defense Technologies Ltd. (4iG S&D), a member of the 4iG Group, and EDGE Group PJSC (EDGE) have signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to identify potential areas of cooperation in the space and drone industries, 4iG announced Thursday on the Budapest Stock Exchange (BÉT) website.

The non-binding memorandum outlines that 4iG S&D and EDGE Group will explore specific opportunities for collaboration in key areas such as unmanned systems, counter-drone technologies, and Earth observation.

These synergies may pave the way for joint research and development initiatives.

EDGE Group is the United Arab Emirates’ leading technology conglomerate, comprised of 35 companies developing innovative and cutting-edge solutions for defense and other industries. Its mission is to transform the UAE into a global hub for the industries of the future.

EDGE operates in areas such as autonomous systems, cyber-physical systems, advanced propulsion, robotics, and smart materials.

4iG S&D serves as the standalone holding company managing 4iG Group’s space and defense industry interests, with the goal of entering global markets in areas such as satellite development, manufacturing, and operation; satellite services, drone manufacturing, drone defense, and digital defense services.

Fact

We previously reported that 4iG S&D aims to become a key player in Hungary’s growing space industry by developing and launching a Hungarian communications satellite between 2028 and 2032. The satellite will be equipped with six high-resolution cameras and two radars to monitor the Earth, and will be produced and tested at the newly built REMTECH Space Technology Center in Martonvásár (near Budapest). The €24.8 million investment will not only strengthen Hungary’s satellite manufacturing capabilities, but also create at least 85 high value-added jobs.
