German car maker Daimler on Friday said it plans to shut down production at several Mercedes-Benz plants next week, including the one in Kecskemét, central Hungary, due to parts shortages.
Production will be shut down next week at the plants in Rastatt (Germany) and in Kecskemét. At the Bremen plant and at certain divisions of the one in Sindelfingen, production has already been shut down this week.
When asked how many employees will be affected by next week’s shutdown, Daimler did not provide an answer. The Bremen plant has 12,000 workers, the Rastatt plant 6,500, the Kecskemet plant 4,700 and the Sindelfingen plant employs 25,000 people.
These four bases already had shutdowns in recent months due to parts shortages.
