Coronavirus: 28 Fatalities, 2,046 New Infections Reported over Weekend

Twenty-eight patients died of a Covid-related illness over the weekend, while 2,046 new coronavirus infections were registered, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Monday.

The number of active infections has risen to 10,143, while hospitals are treating 715 Covid patients, 109 of whom need respiratory assistance.

Since the first outbreak, 829,456 infections have been registered, while fatalities have risen to 30,303. Fully 789,010 people have made a recovery.

So far 5,909,819 people have received a first jab, while 5,679,589 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 898,000 Hungarians have received a booster jab.

There are 5,339 people in official quarantine, while 7,071,702 tests have been officially carried out.

On May 21, the Hungarian government announced that most of Hungary’s remaining restrictions would be lifted upon reaching five million vaccinations. Further restrictions, such as the mask mandate, have been lifted as well after 5.5 million vaccinations were reached.
