Coronavirus: 20 Fatalities, 1,183 New Infections Reported in Hungary

Twenty patients died of a Covid-related illness over the weekend, while 1,183 new coronavirus infections were registered, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Monday.

The number of active infections stands at 7,923, while hospitals are treating 478 Covid patients, 71 of whom need respiratory assistance.

Since the first outbreak, 821,261 infections have been registered, while fatalities have risen to 30,171. Fully 783,167 people have made a recovery.

So far 5,879,178 people have received a first jab, while 5,630,587 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 714,000 Hungarians have received a booster jab.

There are 5,839 people in official quarantine, while 6,893,915 tests have been officially carried out.

On May 21, the Hungarian government announced that most of Hungary’s remaining restrictions would be lifted upon reaching five million vaccinations. Further restrictions, such as the mask mandate, have been lifted as well after 5.5 million vaccinations were reached.
