Opposition Representatives Demand Urgent Gov’t Measures to Fight Spread of Coronavirus

MTI-Hungary Today 2021.10.28.

A cooperation dubbed ELEGY and formed by opposition parties, politicians and civil organisations has called for urgent government measures to slow the spread of coronavirus infections.

Vaccinations prevent severe cases of infection but cannot stop the spread of the virus, a statement by ELEGY member Democratic Cooperation said on Wednesday.

ELEGY demanded authorising local governments and other institutions to make mask-wearing compulsory. It also called on the Orbán government to make available mass antigen testing for Covid-19 free of charge, initially in educational institutions, the statement said. In an effort to simplify the process of getting vaccinated, ELEGY urged the government to cancel the requirement of pre-registration.
