Twenty patients died of Covid over the past 24 hours, while 2,361 new coronavirus infections were registered in Hungary, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Thursday.

The number of active infections has risen to 17,521, while hospitals are treating 1,105 Covid patients, 155 of whom need respiratory assistance.

Since the first outbreak, 841,277 infections have been registered, while fatalities have risen to 30,468. Fully 793,288 people have made a recovery.

So far 5,932,239 people have received a first jab, while 5,710,977 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 1,056,000 Hungarians have received a booster jab.

There are 15,854 people in official quarantine, while 7,217,103 tests have been officially carried out.

On May 21, the Hungarian government announced that most of Hungary’s remaining restrictions would be lifted upon reaching five million vaccinations. Further restrictions, such as the mask mandate, have been lifted as well after 5.5 million vaccinations were reached.
