Coronavirus: Number of Active Infections Drops Below 100,000 for First Time This Year

Altogether 40 patients died of a Covid-related illness over the past 24 hours, while 2,906 new coronavirus infections were registered, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Wednesday.

The number of active infections has decreased to 99,855, while hospitals are treating 1,873 Covid-19 patients, 55 of whom are intubated on a ventilator.

Since the first outbreak, 45,430 deaths have been recorded, while 1,849,217 have been registered with the virus. Fully 1,703,932 people have made a recovery.

So far 6,402,207 people have received a first jab, while 6,186,672 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 3,842,718 Hungarians have received a booster jab and 257,286 have also received the fourth dose.

There are 8,296 people in official quarantine, while 11,103,060 tests have been officially carried out.
