Coronavirus: 80 Fatalities, 6,454 New Cases Reported in Hungary

80 patients died of Covid over the past 24 hours, while 6,454 new coronavirus infections were registered in Hungary, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Thursday.

The number of active infections has risen to 103,409, while hospitals are treating 3,101 Covid patients, 307 of whom are on ventilators.

Since the first outbreak, the number of fatalities has risen to 39,679, while 1,276,433 infections have been registered. Fully 1,133,345 people have made a recovery.

So far 6,272,718 people have received a first jab, while 5,996,472 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 3,198,951 Hungarians have received a booster jab.

The reduction in new cases is overshadowed by the fact that Hungary still remains one of the countries most affected by covid mortality. In addition, the heavily mutated omicron variant has also appeared in the country.Continue reading

There are 17,424 people in official quarantine, while 9,256,170 tests have been officially carried out.

The government re-introduced compulsory mask-wearing in enclosed spaces from November 20.
