Coronavirus: 69 New Fatalities, More than 20,000 New Cases in 24 Hours

Altogether 69 patients died of a Covid-related illness over the past 24 hours, while 20,174 new coronavirus infections were registered, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Wednesday.

The number of active infections has risen to 205,376, while hospitals are treating 3,145 Covid-19 patients, 164 of whom are intubated on a ventilator.

Since the first outbreak, 41,087 deaths have been recorded, while 1,471,276 have been registered with the virus. Fully 1,224,813 people have made a recovery.

So far 6,345,766 people have received a first jab, while 6,083,949 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 3,567,044 Hungarians have received a booster jab.

There are 24,297 people in official quarantine, while 9,839,158 tests have been officially carried out.

The website said the omicron variant was spreading rapidly.
