Coronavirus: 88 Fatalities, Almost 18,000 New Cases Registered in Hungary

Altogether 88 patients died of a Covid-related illness over the past 24 hours, while 17,894 new coronavirus infections were registered, koronavirus.gov.hu said on Thursday.

The number of active infections has decreased to 227,899, while hospitals are treating 4,451 Covid-19 patients, 163 of whom are intubated on a ventilator.

Since the first outbreak, 41,636 deaths have been recorded, while 1,600,411 have been registered with the virus. Fully 1,330,876 people have made a recovery.

So far 6,366,402 people have received a first jab, while 6,107,843 have been fully vaccinated. Fully 3,700,305 Hungarians have received a booster jab.

There are 23,192 people in official quarantine, while 10,161,911 tests have been officially carried out.

The government re-introduced compulsory mask-wearing in enclosed spaces from November 20.
