Until recently, the numbers regarding coronavirus infections, vaccination, and hospitalizations were not published in detail. Many criticized the government for not revealing the numbers and asked for them several times. Now, however, Human Resources Minister Miklós Kásler has talked about this in more detail.
During the fourth wave, between September 7, 2021, and January 3rd of this year, 456,000 Hungarians were infected, 17,000 of whom needed hospital treatment. The fourth wave, however, is still not completely over, said Miklós Kásler, who presented the data.
Of those hospitalized, 60 percent were not vaccinated, 40 percent were vaccinated.
Of the people who required intensive care, 70 percent were not vaccinated and 30 percent had received the vaccine. Of the 450,000 infected, 9,485 people died, a mortality rate of 2.1 percent, compared with almost 4 percent in previous waves.
Hungary’s vaccination rate, in proportion to the whole population, is over 63 percent concerning the first jabs, over 61 percent who are fully vaccinated, while about 34 percent got the booster.
