Cooperation Takes the Technological Development of Railways to a New Level

Hungary Today 2024.09.26.

Hungarian railways are moving towards an automated future, reports Index. This is reflected in a recent agreement signed at the InnoTrans exhibition in Berlin by Szabolcs Rózsa, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), István Sárváry, CEO of V-Híd and Johannes Max-Theurer, CEO of Plasser & Theurer.

In the framework of the cooperation, the parties will launch a number of joint research projects focusing on the assessment of the condition of railway tracks and the automation of digital data processing.

By combining knowledge, modern technology and resources, Hungary’s leading civil engineering school (BME), the largest Hungarian railway construction group (V-Híd) and Europe’s largest railway engineering company, Plasser & Theurer,

will help to map railway tracks and their environment.

The cooperation agreement was signed at the InnoTrans exhibition in Berlin on Wednesday.

Technological development and digitalization will play a key role in shaping the future of rail transport.

That is why the agreement aims to promote innovation, increase sustainability and efficiency, and digitalize and optimize the railway environment.

“This partnership will allow our students to learn first-hand about cutting-edge technologies and gain experience in their application in real projects,” emphasized Szabolcs Rózsa, Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at BME. According to Johannes Max-Theurer, CEO of Plasser & Theurer, “by combining know-how and resources, sustainable solutions will be created that will serve the future of rail transport.”

The project aims to use geotechnical data to optimize track construction processes, reducing costs and increasing efficiency.

“This cooperation is an opportunity to take the technological development of domestic railway construction to a new level. Our aim is to build the railways of the future with solutions that put sustainability and efficiency first,” pointed out István Sárváry, CEO of V-Híd.
