Leading politicians of the Centrist Democrat International discussed the consequences of the war, the energy crisis, and the European sanctions policy in Budapest with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán hosted a working dinner for leading politicians of the Centrist Democrat International (CDI) in the Carmelite Monastery on Monday, the Prime Minister’s press chief told Hungarian news agency MTI. Orbán is one of the vice-presidents of the global organization of conservative parties.
Former Columbian head of state and President of CDI Andres Pastrana, Executive Secretary of CDI Antonio Lopez-Isturiz, CDI Vice-President and former Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa, former Portuguese MEP Mario David, the Prime Minister’s political director Balázs Orbán, Fidesz Vice-President Kinga Gál, Chair of Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee Zsolt Németh, and senior advisor to the Prime Minister Zsuzsanna Rahói all attended the dinner.
“In the current challenging period, the unity of conservative-Christian forces is particularly valuable as it can play an important role in preserving peace in Europe,” Balázs Orbán wrote in a Facebook post.
The participants discussed “the strategies and cooperation opportunities that are available to right-wing, Christian, conservative parties in the present situation when, due to the war in Ukraine, an energy crisis, economic recession, inflation, and the consequences of the policy of sanctions are affecting countries worldwide, but in particular in Europe,” Orbán’s press chief said.
