Code Red! Temperatures Are Nearing 40 Degrees

Due to the heatwave expected in the coming days, a “code red” came into force on Monday morning. The National Meteorological Service (NMS) forecast that extreme heat was expected in the coming days.

“Code red” is in effect from 8 a.m. on Monday morning until 9 p.m. on Wednesday evening, which means that all social institutions must open their doors if the regional dispatch service receives information about a person in trouble on the street who cannot help themselves.

According to the forecast of the National Meteorological Service, the daily average temperature is expected to be above 25 degrees Celsius everywhere except in the northeast on Monday, and above 27 degrees Celsius in the North Transdanubian region and the central part of the country, as well as in the Southern Great Plain. Peak temperatures will be between 30 and 36 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs of between 28 and 35 degrees Celsius on Tuesday and 29 to 38 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, with temperatures dropping to just 13 to 23 degrees Celsius at dawn.
