Finance Minister Mihály Varga presented next year’s tax plans on Tuesday, revealing that excise duties on tobacco and alcohol products will be raised from January. The price of a pack could rise by up to 250 forints -reported Mandiner.hu.
This means a pack of cigarettes will be roughly 200-250 forints more expensive from January 1. For example, a pack that today costs HUF 2,050 will then cost 2,250-2300 forints ( EUR 6.25) after the increase, mfor.hu reports.
According to the ministry, the tax increase is necessary for tobacco products and fuel because the EU minimum tax is set in euros.
