Yet again this year we continue in our tradition of thanking our readers for their patronage and support on Christmas Eve with a personal message from the editor-in-chief. Our journalists and staff, the directors and members of the Friends of Hungary Foundation, have worked very hard to keep this online news portal continuing to be the success story that it has been for the past decade. With our German-language sister site, Ungarn Heute, we have managed to offer a truthful and professional source of information about Hungary for those seeking an alternative to the barrage of fake news that is sadly still being published about our homeland and our people in the international media on a daily basis. The message of support and encouragement we have received from our readers throughout the year was amazing, we could not thank you enough for your patronage.
The most important thing though is to remember that during Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, and the joy we receive during this Christian holiday sets the tone for our work for the rest of the year. This time around we pay particular attention to our brothers and sisters in the Middle-East, who are facing increasing hostilities and persecution for the their faith, in addition to the suffering shared by the rest of their societies brought about by perpetual armed conflict and poverty. Christianity is now, without a doubt, the most persecuted religion around the world, and many of you who have the courage of publicly affirming your faith in Western Europe are also experiencing increasing hostility and discrimination. For our part though, the only way we can show our solidarity towards those who have lost their freedom of speech, conscience and religion is to continue to affirm what we know and believe to be the truth. This is how we wish to serve our global readership as Hungarians.
With this in mind, we wish you a merry Christmas.
