Krisztián Berki started his career as a football player and was also the managing director of the Hungarian professional football club FTC for a while, but the public knows him mostly from the reality shows in which he appeared. Berki wanted to become the mayor of Budapest in 2019, which he strongly campaigned for, but lately, he has been appearing in the media mainly because of his dispute over child support payments with his ex-wife. His second daughter from his current marriage was born in November. The police do not suspect murder as the reason behind Berki’s death.

On Friday morning, several police vehicles were dispatched to an apartment complex in Budapest’s 9th district, and an ambulance also arrived on the scene. The resident of the house was Krisztián Berki. Neighbors had reportedly heard shouting and arguing near the apartment of the football player turned celebrity in the past several days.
The area was cordoned off and only those with their apartment numbers on the staircase were allowed to enter, Origo reported.
The press office of the National Police Headquarters (BRFK) told 24.hu that there was no suspicion of foul play. According to 24.hu, however, Krisztián Berki did not commit suicide. When contacted about the case, the BRFK said that substances suspected to be drugs were found at the scene, and a criminal proceeding has been launched.
