BYD Strengthens Its Presence with the Opening of New Dealership in Budapest

MTI-Hungary Today 2024.01.12.

BYD has signed a strategic retail agreement with the Schiller Car Family (Schiller Autó Család). The Chinese car manufacturer is continuously strengthening its presence in the Hungarian market.

BYD aims to offer sustainable and innovative electric vehicles to a wide range of customers in Hungary. Schiller’s BYD dealership will open in northern Budapest in February.

The Schiller Group is BYD’s third partner in Hungary. The Chinese company started distribution in the country last October with its first two dealerships, Duna Auto and Wallis Motor.

More retail partners will join BYD’s network nationwide in the coming months, the company emphasized.

BYD expects that the state incentive program for electric car purchases available from February, will make the brand attractive to businesses in Hungary, with all three current BYD models eligible for the HUF 4 million (EUR 10,555) incentive.

BYD is taking swift steps to ensure that its future service network will be easily accessible to owners living or working far from the capital.

BYD Auto, an automotive subsidiary of BYD founded in 2003, focuses on the development of pure electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The company is the first automaker in the world to stop producing fossil-fuel vehicles. BYD Europe is the BYD Group’s first overseas subsidiary.

Fact

BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of plug-in electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles (New Energy Vehicle, NEV), entered the European passenger car market in 2022. The brand has already gone on sale in 18 European countries.

In China, as many new cars are sold in a day as in Hungary in a year. In September, 743,000 NEV models were sold in the country: an average of 52,000 a day in the second week, 64,000 a day in the third week, and 128,000 a day at the end of the month. It is worth adding that last year, 111,500 cars were sold on the Hungarian market as a whole. Based on previous information, BYD sold 6,887 million vehicles last year, with a significant increase in sales of 93 percent.

The brand launched three models in the Hungarian market, combining advanced electric vehicle technology and environmentally friendly solutions. All new vehicles are covered by a six-year or 150,000 kilometer warranty, while the energy storage battery is covered by an eight-year or 200,000 kilometer warranty.
