Budapest has been ranked among the world’s best destinations by Condé Nast Traveler, one of the leading international travel publications, in its year-end recommendation. The prestigious recognition is also important because it will make the capital even more popular among travellers from abroad, the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ) remarked.
Budapest features alongside destinations such as French Polynesia, Mauritius, and Australia’s Kimberley region. In addition,
the 24-strong frame includes only three other European destinations apart from Budapest: the Cyclades in Greece, Kosovo, and the Yorkshire region of the United Kingdom.
The recommendation highlights the unique architectural styles and thermal spas of the Hungarian capital and focuses on tourist attractions such as the Chain Bridge, the Hungarian House of Music, and the National Athletics Center, among others.
This is not the first time that Hungary has attracted the attention of the world press.
Last year, Budapest featured prominently on Time magazine’s list of recommended destinations. The British Mirror magazine listed Széchenyi Spa and Lake Hévíz among the best spas in Europe. Tokaj (northern Hungary) has been named one of the world’s top destinations by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). These accolades and recommendations could help to attract even more tourists to Budapest than before.
