Budapest Baths Are Getting Ready for the Summer with Exciting Programs

Hungary Today 2025.05.21.

Depending on the ever-changing and unfavorable spring weather, the beaches in the capital will gradually open over the coming weeks. From then on, you can take a dip in all of Budapest’s bathing areas, and Világgazdaság compiled the ticket prices for this year’s beach season.

Even though this tradition ended a few years ago, many people still believe that beaches open on May 1. Nowadays, the opening date is timed to suit demand, as experience has shown that bathers wait for sunny, hot days, i.e. real heatwave weather, which nowadays means temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius.

Therefore, the start of the beach season now depends more on the weather and the expected number of visitors,

according to information provided to Világgazdaság by Budapest Spas cPlc.

Most of the baths operated by Budapest Spas cPlc. are open all year round, as they have both indoor and outdoor pools, with the latter also serving as beaches in the summer. These include the Palatinus Bath on Margaret Island, the Csillaghegy Bath, the Paskál Thermal and Open-air Bath, and Pesterzsébet Iodine-Salt Thermal and Open-air Bath, which are still the most popular today. Many people also visit the Római and Pünkösdfürdő Open-air Baths in Óbuda (District 3), which open only during the summer season.

In addition to the pools that are open in winter, such as the Palatinus swimming pool and thermal pool, the tent covering the Paskál swimming pool was removed in April, and at Palatinus, guests were able to use the Margaréta pool over the Easter weekend.

Since last weekend, the huge and popular outdoor adventure pool at Palatinus also became available.

“According to our plans, by the end of May, we will open the wave pool at the Pesterzsébet Bath, the outdoor pools at Csillaghegy, and the children’s pools at Paskál and Palatinus,” Budapest Spas cPlc. said. The outdoor large pool at the St. Gellert Thermal Bath is expected to open in early June, and from mid-June, at the end of the school year, all pools, including the wave pools and slides, will be open. The last in line, the summer-only baths in Budapest, the Római and Pünkösdfürdő Baths, will open in mid-June. The now traditional beach season opening party will be held on June 22, this time in Csillaghegy.

Admission prices at the company’s baths increase by an average of five percent from January 2025, and the situation is similar at the beaches that operate exclusively in the summer, where this year’s prices will be valid from the start of the season. The capital’s most popular bath, Palatinus, operates with winter and summer season prices. Currently, visitors can still enjoy winter or pre-season prices, but from May 31, summer admission prices will increase by five to six percent compared to last summer’s prices.

Beach baths are offering varying discounts of 10-35 percent for children, pensioners, students, and families again this year. With a family ticket for four, admission is free for one child.

According to information from Budapest Spas cPlc., the most popular Palatinus in the summer will cost 5,300 forints (13.17 euros) for adults on weekdays and 5,800 forints (14.41 euros) on weekends. Family tickets will cost between 11,600 and 12,600 forints (between 28.83 and 31.31 euros) and between 14,700 and 16,100 forints (between 36.53 and 40.01 euros), depending on whether the family has three or four members and whether it is a weekday or weekend. Of course, there are cheaper options too. The most affordable place seems to be the Pünkösdfürdő Bath, where family tickets will cost between 5,800 and 8,600 forints (between 14.41 and 21.37 euros) this year.

Budapest Spas cPlc. has also joined the “School at the Beach” program announced by the Hungarian Bathing Association for schools, which allows students to participate in an exciting, entertaining, and educational school day at the company’s beaches during the last week before summer break.

The promotion was announced for the period between June 10 and 20, for elementary and high school classes with a 50% discount on admission.

On Tuesday evenings in July, the Szechenyi Baths recommend the CineSpa “Immersed in Movies” program as an evening relaxation activity, where guests can watch movies while bathing in the outdoor adventure pool. In addition, this summer there will be a Beach Night on July 26, at the Pesterzsébet Bath, and this year they will also join the national water gun battle organized by the Hungarian Bathing Association on August 23.
