Nanushka has opened its new New York store, located at 27 Mercer Street in the heart of Soho, Világgazdaság reports.
Designed by Italian architect Matteo Corbellini, the new store offers a refreshed space to welcome the Nanushka community to the city. Corbellini, a proponent of ever-changing, evolving space design, was introduced to Hungarian fashion designer Szandra Sándor’s brand at a dinner in Milan.
The space continues to work with the same team to create a relaxed and fluid environment, offering a unique spatial experience inspired by the idea of a ‘temporary sanctuary.’
The space is created using distinctive Nanushka fabrics from its Budapest atelier, and is assembled in a unique frame that blurs the line between stability and movement. Some design elements remain fixed, while others are designed to be mobile, creating a dynamic and constantly evolving environment. Inspired by the structure of Berber tents, the store design emphasizes nomadic energy.
The interior is complemented by black lacquered metal furniture by Allina Corbellini for Lunaa. Pieces of raw metal assembled with visible welding reflect the craft of sewing in fabric, while the textiles of the space create soft, organic shapes through folds and undulations.
The result is a “celebration of fabric and texture,” reflecting Nanushka’s focus on timeless and thoughtful design.
As reported by Hungary Today, Nanushka’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection was unveiled recently in New York. The collection, marking the brand’s 20th anniversary, draws inspiration from paper craftsmanship, reimagining different textures and techniques from raw paper and transforming them into new, sophisticated fabrics and garments.

Szandra Sándor’s clothes have already achieved international success and many celebrities have been seen wearing them. Last time, for instance, Golden Globe-winning American actress Kate Hudson appeared in her music video in March wearing the elegant coffee brown silk blouse ‘Elu’ and matching ‘Kezia’ trousers.
Under the creative direction of Szandra Sándor and the leadership of Peter Baldaszti, Nanushka as a fashion house has brought Central European design to the forefront of the fashion industry, making it the first of its kind.
