Budapest Airport Reports Highest Passenger Numbers since Start of Pandemic

Fully 997,454 passengers passed through Liszt Ferenc International Airport in April, the highest monthly number since the start of the pandemic, operator Budapest Airport said on Thursday.

The passenger count is an increase of 1,400 percent from April last year. Passenger numbers over Easter were 6 percent higher than over the rest of the month.

Cargo volume at the airport amounted to 17,245 tonnes in April, up 3.3 percent from a year earlier.

Budapest Airport noted that April saw the resumption of flights to Riga, Tel Aviv and Warsaw. Also, with the start of the summer schedule period, the airport is relaunching seasonal direct flights to Corfu, Chania, Rimini, Palma de Mallorca, Rhodes, Zadar, Abu-Dhabi, Podgorica, Stockholm, Nantes, Burgas and Alghero.
