The basis of internal security in Hungary is border control, and in the interests of the security of Hungarians, we cannot allow people with unknown identities brought to the border by criminals, to enter the country without being checked, the Prime Minister’s chief advisor on internal security said on public television channel M1’s program.

György Bakondi said that the recent adoption of the asylum and migration package at the Interior Council meeting was “coup-like,” contrary to the will of the Hungarian people and the government’s very determined and effective migration and border control policy pursued since 2015.

He said that one of the consequences of the package would be that

under the quota system, Hungary would have to take in and house 10,000-30,000 illegal immigrants in migrant ghettos, who would have to be cared for by the Hungarian people.

He added that the EU’s proposal is aimed at dismantling the border surveillance system, introduced in Hungary in 2015, with the support of the vast majority of the Hungarian population and with national budget funds. He stressed that the introduction of a quota system would render the strict border surveillance system pointless.

Bakondi also talked about the issue on Radio Kossuth, saying that

some European countries, and especially the left majority in the European Parliament, continue to support “the mass influx of people of unknown identity into Europe brought here by criminals” for ideological reasons,

and that Hungary has been under “incessant political attack” since 2015, for not supporting and even obstructing this.

Asked about the riots in France, the chief adviser said that France had spent “huge sums of money” on integrating migrants, supporting their language learning, vocational training, housing, and employment, but that the “total failure” of this was demonstrated by the fact that young people, typically from second to third-generation migrant backgrounds, were setting fires, breaking and smashing things, attacking people, and flouting the institutions of the French state.

Fact

Riots in France have been ongoing for days after a police officer shot a teenager, Nahel M. during a police traffic stop. The violent crowd set fires on the streets, and clashed with police. During the protests, a suburban Paris mayor’s home was attacked by rioters who fired rockets at his fleeing wife and children, causing her to break her leg and injuring one of the children.

“We have seen a complete failure of integration. This is a big warning for all European countries,” emphasized Bakondi.
