As part of Europe’s largest tax reduction program, from January 1, 2026, the ceiling linked to the average wage will be abolished in the case of the personal income tax exemption for mothers under 30. Thus, they will be able to receive the exemption for the full amount of their salary, the State Secretary for Families of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation announced.
Zsófia Koncz stressed that it is of further relief that mothers under 30 years of age can also benefit from the exemption from next year, if their child was born before January 1, 2023.
The measure will help an additional 10-15,000 mothers under the age of 30 whose income is higher than the current threshold, and those who gave birth before 2023.
She revealed that
she will submit the relevant bill to parliament on Monday.
The bill will apply to mothers under 30 with one child. Mothers with four or more children are already exempt, while mothers with two or three children will also be exempt from tax by January 2026.
Families with one child will be able to claim a family tax allowance of HUF 20,000 (EUR 50) per month from 2026, while the exemption for mothers under 30 will leave an average of HUF 109,000 (EUR 273) in the family pockets. All this means an average of HUF 129,000 (EUR 323) extra income per month for them, she said.
