The Diás Beach (Diási Játékstrand) in Gyenesdiás (northern shore) won the title of Best Beach of Lake Balaton 2024, and 28 beaches around the lake can display the five-star Blue Wave Flag (Kék Hullám Zászló). This year, 46 beach operators took part in the competition, some of them with open beaches and campsites, LikeBalaton reports.
Winning the Blue Wave Flag has become a prestigious recognition, but it has also become a guide for future development directions.
The Diás Beach in Gyenesdiás won the title of Best Beach of Lake Balaton 2024.
Once again this year, the nominated beaches were rated from one to five stars, indicating the quality and variety of services offered by the venues.
Of the beaches entered, 28 were awarded five stars, 14 four stars and 4 three stars.
The rating was based on the following criteria:
Several special prizes were awarded. New among them is “Smart Destination,” looking at the digital accessibility of beaches. Three venues received “Smart Destination” certificates, with the special award going to the Lido Beach of Vonyarcvashegy (northern shore). Digital accessibility of beaches will be a new criterion in the rating system next year.
In recent years, almost all the beaches of Lake Balaton have undergone a huge development.
Almost all of them now have baby-friendly rooms, family-friendly changing rooms, but there are also some outstanding ones with children’s and sports animations.
In recent years, the number of beaches that have been awarded the five-star Blue Wave Flag is high, thanks not only to the support for beach development but also to the fact that beach operators take on board the recommendations of the professional jury.
