Liszt Music Academy Invites Entries to Bartók World Competition for Composers 2022

Budapest’s Liszt Academy of Music has announced its international Composers 2022 competition with Oscar-winning American composer John Corigliano being jury chair.

The competition invites pieces to be submitted by composers of all nationalities aged under 40 for violin and piano until August 23, the academy told MTI on Friday.

The prize-winning works will be presented at a gala concert at the Liszt Academy on November 26.

Péter Eötvös' opera Sleepless, commissioned by the Berlin Staatsoper, will receive its Hungarian premiere, while concert performers will include pianist David Fray and the Liszt Chamber Orchestra, as well as star cellist István Várdai and celebrated violinist Kristóf Baráti.Continue reading
