Balaton Sound, One of the Largest Festivals of the Summer, Kicks off

Hungary Today 2024.07.02.

On Wednesday, one of the country’s biggest electronic music festivals, Balaton Sound, kicks off on the southern shore of Lake Balaton. The festival starts on July 3 and runs until Saturday July 6, reports Turizmus.com.

The  „Te vagy a party sztárja” (“You are the star of the party”) activity, a great success last year, will continue this year, with party-goers at Heineken Balaton Sound being able to see themselves on the giant projector on the Balaton Sound Main Stage.

Fans of electronic music will be able to find their favorites again this year, while the cross-genre offering will also allow them to discover new artists and musical trends.

One of this year’s big attractions is the extended program of the Heineken Balaton Sound Main Stage, offering concerts from the second day until 3 a.m., with the stars like HUGEL, Meduza, John Newman, Zomboy and Marshmello.

Turning to Sunday at dawn, this venue will bid farewell to festival-goers with a huge Endshow featuring the world-famous Dutch Q-Dance company.

For those traveling to the festival by train, here is some useful information:

Trains to Lake Balaton depart every 30-60 minutes from Budapest-Déli and Budapest-Kelenföld stations, and it takes around an hour to get there.
  1. On InterCity and express trains, seat reservations are mandatory, therefore it is advised to buy the ticket in advance.
  2. Train service does not stop at night. Owl Trains (Bagolyvonat) run every 30-60 minutes throughout the night towards Fonyód, Siófok (both on the southern shore), and Budapest.
  3. Those traveling must have a valid ticket to board the trains.
  4. For unlimited travel around Balaton for 7 days, the Balaton Sound TravelPass is available again this year.
