The wine competition was held with the participation of an international jury of about 80. The sparkling wines from all over the world were tasted under strict conditions at the Château de Pierreclos in Burgundy.
Finally, a total of 52 gold and 108 silver medals were awarded, with four gold medals going to Hungarian sparkling wines. Hungaria’s Rosé Extra Dry won gold for the third time (2019, 2020, 2021), this time also making it into the Top 10 selection. This puts the Hungarian sparkling wine among the best, together with the sparkling wine greats from France, Italy, and Spain.
András Csomay, marketing manager of the Törley Champagne Cellars, to which the Hungaria brand also belongs, commented on the excellent ranking:
On an international level, we could not wish for greater recognition to confirm the work of our winemakers and champagne masters, however, beyond the medals, what is important is that we produce excellent champagne of consistently high quality for Hungarian consumers.”
The other Hungarian gold medals were won by the sparkling wines Classic Selection – Extra Dry of the Garamvári Winery, and the Chardonnay Brut of Törley.
