Audi Hungaria has reached a special milestone: the five millionth engine from the EA211 engine family rolled off the production line a few days ago, revealed the Germany-based company’s Hungarian subsidiary. The anniversary unit, a four-cylinder engine, will be installed in a new Audi Q3 model in Győr.
The press release recalls that in 1994, the first year of Audi Hungaria’s production, the first four-cylinder engine, a 1.8-liter, 125-horsepower five-valve engine, was produced on a newly installed production line in Győr. They noted that this type of engine has continued to play a decisive role in production ever since. This production line also formed the basis for the line on which the EA211 engine has been manufactured since 2012.
Over the years, the design and production of the engine has continuously adapted to technological changes, new products, and market demands. In 2018, the company integrated the production of three-cylinder engines into this production line, expanding its product range and strengthening production flexibility.
The engines currently in production – the 1.0-liter three-cylinder, and the 1.4-liter and 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engines – are available in Classic and Evo versions, with power outputs ranging from 95 to 150 horsepower.
These are installed not only in Audi vehicles, but also in other brands of the VW Group, such as Volkswagen, Škoda, Seat, and CUPRA, worldwide.
“Audi Hungaria’s engines are backed by over three decades of experience and the continuous knowledge and development of our experts. This expertise, combined with the commitment of our employees, has been and will continue to be the guarantee of our future success. I would like to thank my colleagues for their dedicated work and congratulate them on this special anniversary,” said Peter Will, Member of the Board of Management for Engine Production at Audi Hungaria, as quoted in the press release.
