Appointment of Commissioner to Investigate US Influence on the Horizon

Máté Kocsis, the leader of the Fidesz party in Hungary, said there is foreign interference in Hungarian politics. He explained in a recent Facebook post that the American left has financial influence on liberal ideologies in Hungary. He has requested the appointment of a government commissioner whose job would be to investigate the financial activities related to Hungary over the last decade, wrote Magyar Nemzet.

Máté Kocsis, leader of Fidesz, said that Donald Trump and Elon Musk have exposed the American left and made those documents public that show that the American left has spent millions of dollars to fund those around the world who spread liberal ideology and bring down the current government, not only in Hungary, but in other countries as well.

In a video shared on the Fidesz faction’s Facebook page, the politician said that this is a big scandal in the United States, but since in Hungary, too, countless pseudo-civil organizations, media outlets, activists and political actors have received US dollars to participate in foreign interference, it is necessary to see this matter clearly. The group has asked the government to appoint a government commissioner to investigate the matter, the group leader said. As he indicated,

the government commissioner’s task would be to travel to the United States and go through all the documents from the past ten years, requesting all the data that relates to Hungary.

He said that this is a political and media corruption network that needs to be uncovered, that it is necessary to know which media outlets received money to carry out political activities in Hungary, which NGOs and organizations claiming to be independent received US dollars, and who the activists were who were involved.

The group leader stressed that they would like to see everything for the last ten years, and that the government commissioner would have the task of regularly informing the government of the data obtained.

This debate must be conducted in front of a wide public, so all the data will be made public by the government commissioner,

said the politician. He thinks it is time to take advantage of the Trump administration’s investigative work to clear the air and look back ten years to see what happened in Hungary, who were involved, and what they can do about it. He said that there have always been people in Hungary and in every country who have made their country vulnerable for money, or who have tried to subvert the constitutional order for money from the outside, but these efforts must always be resisted and confronted, and that is what they are preparing to do.

He believes that next year’s elections will also be overshadowed by foreign money, which is also seen in their political opponents. “We see the effects of this in the media, which calls itself independent, and we also see it in the activity of pseudo-civil society organizations. I am convinced that domestic politics should be decided at home and not abroad,” he said.
