The 2024/2025 Call for Proposals of the Without Borers program has been published, Árpád János Potápi, State Secretary for National Policy, announced on Monday. The program will allow seventh-graders (12-13 year-olds) from Hungary to travel to Hungarian-inhabited areas in neighboring countries.

In a statement, the state secretary said that the Without Borders program, launched in 2011, aims to enable all Hungarian children studying in public schools to visit Hungarian-inhabited areas in neighboring countries at least once during their studies, with the support of the Hungarian government. He pointed out that during the trips, the children not only get to know the landscapes, natural treasures and built heritage of the border areas, but also gain personal impressions and build relationships with Hungarian children and communities abroad.

Árpád János Potápi stressed that the earlier a person experiences it, the deeper the feeling and awareness of national belonging takes root in them. This is why the target group of the program is the seventh-grade age group.

The State Secretary explained that, as in previous years, applications for the 2024/2025 call for proposals may be submitted by a school district center, a vocational training center, a state higher education institution or a non-state educational institution.

The amount of funding available varies between HUF 1-7 million (EUR 2500-17,900), depending on the number of participants and the distance covered.

The form of the grant is non-reimbursable. The deadline for submitting applications is 2:00 p.m. (Central European Time) on August 14, 2024, and the excursion must take place between September 1, 2024 and August 31, 2025.

Árpád János Potápi recalled that

since the launch of the program, more than half a million Hungarian schoolchildren have had the opportunity to visit the border with the support of the Hungarian government.

So far, nearly 900 municipalities in Hungary have already joined the program, and around 1,000 trips are organized every year.

The State Secretary said that he urged all educational institutions in Hungary to take advantage of this opportunity and participate in the program, so that the concept of national unity is not just an empty slogan for young people, but a real, personal experience.
