Anti-War Graffiti Depicting Jesus and Putin Created in Budapest

The artwork, recent graffiti on the pavement of the Filatorigát suburban train stop, depicts Jesus ordering Putin to end the war.

The graffiti depicts Russian President Vladimir Putin standing in the middle of a blazing battlefield as Jesus points to him and tells him to end the war.

Recently, Pope Francis also called the suffering of the civilian population in Ukraine inhuman cruelty and an attack on the sanctity of human life. The popular Hungarian Catholic priest and mental health professional, Feri Pál, also condemned Putin and the war.

The wall at Filatorigát is Budapest’s first graffiti wall, where graffiti art has been created since 1990. This is not the first time that graffiti art has been made there in reaction to current events. Although it is not available anymore, a mural of Bud Spencer was also created there after the death of the Italian actor and former water polo player, beloved by Hungarians.
