Annual Military Aviation Day Canceled due to War in Ukraine

Due to the war in Ukraine, the annual Kecskemét International Aviation Day and Military Technology Demonstration has been canceled, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced on Friday.

The statement said that in the current war times, the security of Hungary and the Hungarian people comes first for the Hungarian Defense Ministry and the Hungarian Defense Forces. Due to the security challenges of war, military training, force development, and military professional tasks now take priority, therefore the International Airshow and Military Technology Demonstration in Kecskemét planned for August will be canceled this year, they said.

We are expecting a protracted war, so the process of force development has accelerated considerably, not only in the field of equipment procurement and defense industry, but also increased attention is being paid to increasing the combat readiness of soldiers,”

they wrote in the statement.

The personnel are therefore taking part in exercises in which the newly formed area protection forces are also given a prominent role, they added.

“By focusing on training, building on the incoming assets and the capabilities acquired and strengthened during the exercises, we are building a prepared, cohesive, 21st century force that, in addition to guaranteeing the security of Hungary and the Hungarian people, will continue to perform its tasks in the federal system to an excellent and internationally recognized standard,” the MoD statement said.
