“The spirit of this gathering is to remember the ancestors who made the Carpathian Basin our homeland and to whom we owe our existence here,” Miklós Kásler, Director General and Honorary President of the Institute of Hungarian Research, summed up one of the most important ideas of Ancestors’ Day in the latest video interview of the “Első Kézből” series, reports Magyar Nemzet.
The idea for the event came from András Zsolt Bíró, the chief organizer of the two-day event and president of the Hungarian Turan Foundation. The most prominent traditionalist troops marched in the event, dressed in authentic period costumes and armed with weapons.
“There were also craftsmen producing iron objects, fabrics, and leather goods. There were old forms, motifs, horse shows, and parades.
The peaceful nature of the event, based on cooperation and understanding between people was particularly impressive.
It was beautiful, it was massive and it was forward-looking,” the Director General reported on the success of the event.
The Institute of Hungarian Research enriched the program with several presentations. Boldizsár Csornay, Deputy Director General for Science, summarized the Institute’s renewed scientific concept, research directions, and activities. Gergely Agócs explored exciting areas of research into ancient music. The results of archaeogenetic research were presented by Endre Neparáczki, Director of the Institute’s Archaeogenetic Research Center.
Miklós Kásler pointed out that the
Institute of Hungarian Research is strengthening its cooperation with the Hungarian Turan Foundation.
“In the spirit of mutual benefit, the objective is the same, but we are approaching the goal from different fields. The scientific activity of the institute is remarkable, but the Hungarian Turan Foundation also represents one of the disciplines of science, and from our point of view this is primarily archaeology. The two complement each other perfectly.”
The director general was also pleased to report that
the Institute of Hungarian Research is receiving an increasing number of invitations at both the national and international levels,
and has also opened its doors wide to those interested in its spirit and activities.
It is one of the long-standing shortcomings and debts of Hungarian social life and festivities that there is no holiday when the entire nation commemorates the greatest real ancestors of the Hungarian nation (Árpád or Atilla), their history-shaping role (the Conquest of Hungary), and their deeds that saved Hungary (the Battle of Bratislava). This event aims to make up for the shortfall.
