Alteo-Therm Kft. has successfully completed a HUF 434 million (EUR 1 million) investment project to replace the former 3.2 megawatt Wartsila 220 SG gas engine at its Tiszaújváros site in northern Hungary, with a modern, refurbished Jenbacher J620 model, announced the parent company, Alteo, on the Budapest Stock Exchange (BÉT) website.
As part of the project, not only was the gas engine replaced, but the mechanical, electrical, and control systems of the auxiliary systems were also modernized. In addition, a new tray cooler unit was also installed that will allow the gas engine to operate without performance restrictions even on extremely hot summer days.
As a result of the investment, the efficiency of the Tiszaújváros heating plant has improved significantly, while the integrated compact equipment ensures easier operation.
Thanks to the modernization, maintenance costs are also expected to decrease, as spare parts for the new Jenbacher gas engine are more readily available. The new gas engine is not only more reliable, but also has better control properties. Due to its improved load gradient, the system’s control capabilities have also been improved, which is an advantage for Alteo’s control center in providing system balancing services. With this development, Alteo is further strengthening its sustainable and efficient energy portfolio, which contributes to the company’s long-term strategy and environmentally friendly operations, they added.
