There is no European country where a majority would support Ukraine by sending troops, according to the Századvég Foundation, citing the results of a Europe Project survey.
In a summary, it was outlined that Emmanuel Macron’s failure to rule out the possibility of “formally sending ground troops” to Ukraine to stop Russia had caused a significant stir in international and European public discourse at the Paris Summit he convened on February 27.

Responding quickly, Hungary announced it still would not send troops or weapons to Ukraine, while Germany, Italy, and Spain, among others, distanced themselves from President Macron’s statement. Additionally, Russian President Vladimir Putin has threatened to use nuclear weapons against countries that would send military personnel to help Kiev.
Mr. Macron later confirmed that every word he said about Western military intervention was
measured, thoughtful, and considered.”
During a visit to Prague in early March, he accused European countries of cowardice for not sending troops to Ukraine. The Századvég Foundation said President Macron’s “statements calling for military intervention are in stark contrast to the expectations of Europeans.”
More than two-thirds (67%) of EU and British citizens are opposed to sending troops to Ukraine, according to the research.
In no European country surveyed is there a majority of respondents who would support Kiev with soldiers. They stressed that the results of the survey are “inseparable from the fact that the possible presence of Western military forces in Ukraine would lead to an immediate escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian war.”
