On January 22, the Petőfi Theater in Veszprém (western Hungary) will celebrate the Day of Hungarian Culture with a spectacular and diverse program, reports Magyar Nemzet.
The Petőfi Theater in Veszprém is once again making special preparations for Hungarian Culture Day this year, with a grand gala on January 22.
The evening will feature almost all aspects of Hungarian culture: folk art, Hungarian songs, operetta, opera and classical music, musicals, the wonderful works of Hungarian literature, as well as circus arts and ballet.
At the gala, Tamás Vastag will perform live the theme song of the theater’s musical for Veszprém, Petőfifjú, entitled “I am not going anywhere from here” (“Nem megyek én innen sehova“). In addition to the artists of the Petőfi Theater in Veszprém, the permanent guests of the theater’s operetta gala and operetta festival, Elemér Horváth and Péter Horváth, will also be performing, as will the dancers of the Székesfehérvár Ballet Theater, and the Capital Circus of Budapest.
The commemoration of the anniversary is an opportunity to pay more attention to the millennial traditions, the roots, to strengthen national consciousness, to show and pass on the material and spiritual values that remind us of our past. On January 22, Hungarians around the world commemorate Hungarian cultural values. Exhibitions and concerts are organized, book launches, literary evenings, and theater performances are held. It is also the occasion for the presentation of professional awards for Hungarian culture, and from 1993 to 2012, for educational and pedagogical work.
