The Ministry for National Economy (NGM) has initiated an extraordinary consumer protection investigation into airlines to address ongoing issues affecting Hungarian families.

This action follows persistent problems in the air transport sector, including flight delays, cancellations, and consumer dissatisfaction despite previous government measures reducing airport chaos.

In a statement the NGM highlighted that while the Hungarian government has improved airport conditions, consumer grievances remain. The Ministry, leading the consumer protection efforts, has mandated a thorough inquiry by the Government Office of Budapest, which will investigate airline operations, monitor compliance with flight delay and cancellation regulations, and address unfair practices.

The Government Office will enforce compliance, imposing fines for violations as necessary.

The Ministry for National Economy aims to resolve ongoing issues in the air transport sector, restore consumer confidence, and uphold the rights of Hungarian families.
