The Hungarian fuel market is about to turn around, even if not significantly, Világgazdaság writes based on Holtankoljak.hu. Overall, however, the situation at petrol stations is still not encouraging.
According to the fuel price monitoring blog, from Friday, the wholesale price will fall again after a long time, but only for diesel. However, that is something, as the last time there was a drop in fuel prices was on January 10, a month and a half ago. So this Friday will see another price moderation:
the purchase price of diesel will fall by HUF 4 gross (1 EUR = 387 HUF).
That is the end of the good news, as the price of petrol is set to remain stable this week. Here is what drivers can expect to see on average at petrol stations in the second half of the week:
It is important to stress that these are average prices, with prices at the pumps typically HUF 4-5 per liter lower. However, at motorway service stations, for example, it can be higher by even HUF 10. In any case, the current announcement shows that so far this year, i.e. from January to now,
the wholesale price of petrol has risen by HUF 74 per liter and the price of diesel by HUF 83,
although HUF 41 of this is due to the mandatory excise duty increase in January. Excluding this, there is an increase of HUF 33 and 42 for petrol and diesel respectively. The increase of around HUF 80 per liter means that an average 50-liter tank of petrol costs around HUF 4,000 more now than it did in December of last year.
From Wednesday this week, the wholesale price of petrol also rose by HUF 4 gross. Then the price of diesel stagnated. From the last working day of the week, the price of diesel will therefore be reduced by the same amount, while the price of petrol will remain unchanged. The next update on fuel prices in Hungary will be on Monday next week.
