The 21st International Theater Festival of Northern Macedonia will honor Hungarian actress Enikő Eszenyi with the European Actor Lifetime Award, on July 6.
The International Theater Festival, one of the most important cultural events in Northern Macedonia, takes place every year from July 6 to 11 on the shores of Lake Prespa.
Thursday’s opening ceremony will include speeches by the Mayor of Resen, Jovan Tozievski, and the president of the festival jury, Meto Jovanovski, at the Saraj Palace in Resen (town in southwestern North Macedonia).
At the award ceremony, festival director Jordan Plevnes will pay tribute to the acting career of Enikő Eszenyi.
Enikő Eszenyi is presented as an acclaimed Hungarian actor, director, and theater director. It was mentioned that her theater career is intertwined with the Vígszínház in Budapest, where she signed a contract after graduating as an actor and was the director from 2009 to 2020. The festival’s website also listed her most important theater roles and productions, pointing out that her career has been recognized with more than 40 awards, including the Jászai Mari Award and the Kossuth Prize, as well as the title of Merited Artist and the title of Ambassador of Hungarian Culture in 2010.
At the ceremony, the work of the Macedonian graphic designer and typographer Lasko Dzurovski will be recognized with the Prespa Keys Award.
