This Year’s MCC Political Festival Could Break New Records

Hungary Today 2023.07.25.

Education is the key to the future, the Director General of Mathias Corvinus Collegium, said in an interview with Világgazdaság. Zoltán Szalai also noted why they decided a few years ago to introduce MCC and its talent management activities to a wider audience, reports Magyar Nemzet.

Zoltán Szalai, the Director General of Mathias Corvinus Collegium, pointed out that the MCC Fest is unique in the field of entertainment and talent management in Hungary,

as festival-goers have never before had the opportunity to attend an event with so many professional, public, and cultural programs,

as well as exciting presentations by foreign professors, journalists, and public figures.

It is expected to break records in terms of attendance. The first festival attracted 12,000 visitors; last year, 32,000 people visited the venue, and the programs were sold out. This year, he said, they expect even more visitors, with the event featuring 100 partner organizations.

He stressed his belief that education is key to the future. That is why

Mathias Corvinus Collegium aims to educate a generation of language-speaking, internationally experienced people

who are able to represent their country in an appropriate way, even internationally, in the interest of Hungary.

Their international outreach is precisely aimed at enabling students to study at the best universities abroad. He highlighted that from autumn 2023, more than 20 students per year will be able to study in Berlin on scholarships, and the MCC campus in Brussels will welcome students on study visits. Being in Brussels will give students a first-hand experience of how the European Union works and an insight into the world of diplomacy.

He emphasized that

while they started with a few dozen students in 2001, they are now present in 28 locations and support around 7,000 students.

He added that the expansion has not been at the expense of quality, as the admission requirements have not been relaxed and the admissions process is over-subscribed year after year. He also spoke of the importance of community building: students who join them leave in greater numbers, receive scholarships and study trips in addition to free talent management programs, and more importantly, become part of a cohesive community on which they can rely on even after their years there.

As for their future plans, he underlined that they would like to offer free talent management programs to 10,000 students from across the border and beyond. He announced that another training and camping site will be added to the Mathias Corvinus Collegium near Iacobeni (Kászonjakabfalva) in Szeklerland.

The festival is organized between 27-29 July.
