New Opportunities for Hungarian Food Producers in Transylvania

MTI-Hungary Today 2023.06.12.

Eleven Hungarian food producers who introduced themselves to buyers and distributors of relevant food chains in Szeklerland (Székelyföld) during a two-day meeting could find new outlets in Transylvania (former part of Hungary, now in Romania), the Agricultural Marketing Center (AMC) told MTI.

The AMC organized a business meeting in Miercurea Ciuc (Csíkszereda) and Sfântu Gheorge (Sepsiszentgyörgy) from June 8-9  with local business associations and the Consulate General of Hungary in Miercurea Ciuc. The aim was to expand the range of Hungarian products already available in the region with products of exportable Hungarian companies.

The choice of the site, Hunguest Hotel Fenyő, was partly motivated by the county seat’s desire to play a greater role in the food industry, as it plans to build an industrial park on an area of about 92 hectares where it expects food companies to locate. The Agricultural Marketing Center informed participants about the Hungarian Food Business export development program, and Hungarian producers offered jam, pasta, wine and fruit vinegar, syrup, and soft drinks, among other products, to the buyers of retail chains in Szeklerland.

The event also featured the launch of the Hungarian Food Business Catalogue, a digital catalog offering nearly 2,000 more Hungarian products to on-site visitors.
