“Ukraine is a country at war, but that does not give them the right to beat people to death during forced conscription,” hirado.hu quoted Prime Minister Viktor Orbán as saying on Saturday.

The head of government explained that József Sebestyén was taken away from Berehove (Beregszász) by force, beaten several times, and ended up in the hospital. The victim recounted the events in a statement to his lawyer before he succumbed to his injuries.

We expect those responsible to be punished,”

the Prime Minister stated.

He added that all Hungarians are responsible for all Hungarians. “The family can count on us,” he said. Viktor Orbán wrote that even in this situation, the Ukrainians are still accusing Hungary. “According to them, we are unnecessarily stirring up tensions and damaging Hungarian-Ukrainian relations. They say this after beating a Hungarian citizen to death. Enough is enough,” he emphasized.

He noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen are discussing how to circumvent the Hungarian veto on Ukraine’s EU membership. “It is a waste of time! There is no way. Instead, they should discuss how to prevent people from dying during the forced conscription!” Orbán wrote in this regard.

“We are fighting for the truth! We are fighting against lies,” he added.

In a statement on his Facebook page, Levente Magyar, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, condemned the recent death of a Hungarian man in Ukraine. Responding to Friday’s press conference held by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Magyar declared that “a Hungarian man had to die because he was beaten to death by Ukrainian state thugs.” He stressed that the killing is not confined to the eastern front, but is also claiming victims in Transcarpathia (Ukraine), tragically, at the hands of official Ukrainian authorities.
