Yesterday, the European Parliament voted on the motion of no-confidence against European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, which ultimately did not pass. However, the majority of Central Europeans have a negative opinion of the president, who has been accused of corruption by some MEPs, reports the Nézőpont Institute.
There is no country in the region where the majority of people do not have a negative opinion of the Commission President. This is the opinion of every second person in Poland (55 percent), Slovenia (54 percent), Slovakia (53 percent), Bulgaria (51 percent), Romania (50 percent), and Hungary (50 percent), but it is also the majority opinion in Austria (46 percent), Croatia (44 percent), and the Czech Republic (44 percent).
The negative perception of Ursula von der Leyen is not only due to the Pfizer affair, which was on the agenda, but also reflects the opinion of Central Europeans on the European Union’s pro-migration and pro-war leadership.

EU institutions, especially the European Commission, are also struggling with rule of law issues, as shown in an analysis by the Nézőpont Institute.
