A record number of young people applied for the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) talent development programs. Interest in the courses available to high school, university, and elementary school students, has been greater than ever before, hence MCC has decided to extend the University Program application period, allowing applicants to apply for the program until August 4.

A record number of students had applied for the University Program’s junior training, aimed at young people starting their university studies in September. This also shows that more and more young people are deciding to lay a solid foundation for their professional development now, MCC said.

They pointed out that the MCC University Program is free of charge and can be completed alongside university studies. The program provides students with the opportunity to learn from the best domestic and international educators and to participate in international scholarships and study trips, including to Oxford, Cambridge, and universities in Asia and the United States. The program also builds a cohesive community and provides students with academic scholarships and free housing, they added.

The MCC runs the University Program in seven major cities: Budapest, Debrecen, Győr, Miskolc, Pécs, Szeged, and Cluj-Napoca. Applications are open to those who will begin their full-time higher education studies in one of these cities in September.

They went on to say that the MCC’s program for high school students, the High School Program (KP), also had an extremely successful year: during the application period that ended last month, the number of applicants increased by several hundred compared to last year, with approximately 2,000 students from various parts of the Carpathian Basin submitting their applications for the program.

According to the announcement, there was similarly strong interest in the Young Talent Program (FIT), which is aimed at the youngest age group and was open to students completing the fourth grade of elementary school: with an average of four to five times as many applicants as places available, nearly 3,500 students submitted their applications for the program.

Among Hungarian cities, Budapest, Szolnok, and Szeged had the most applicants, with nearly 200 each, while in Transylvania (Romania) and Carpathian Ruthenia (Ukraine), the number of applicants per city far exceeded 200.
