Hungary ranks fifth among the most popular destinations for digital nomads due to its relative low cost of living, developed infrastructure, vibrant community, and visa program for digital nomads, Világgazdaság reported.
Surveys estimate that there are between 40 and 80 million digital nomads worldwide. An analysis by the Oeconomus Economic Research Foundation shows that there are several advantages at the national economic level when digital nomads choose a country as their place of work, primarily through tourism and consumption.

Based on the 2025 Digital Nomad Index compiled by VisaGuide, Hungary is the fifth best country in the world for digital nomads,
behind Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Montenegro, and the Bahamas.

Hungary stands out for its low cost of living, stable internet connection, low income requirement (2,000 EUR) for a digital nomad visa (known as a white card), and favorable tax conditions.
