Liverpool FC has added another Hungarian international to its ranks, with Milos Kerkez moving from AFC Bournemouth to the Reds. The official confirmation came on Thursday afternoon on the English top club’s X page. With this transfer, Milos Kerkez becomes the third Hungarian in the Liverpool FC squad, alongside national team captain Dominik Szoboszlai and recently signed goalkeeper Ármin Pécsi.

The 21-year-old left-back Milos Kerkez, who began his professional career at Győri ETO and had spells at AC Milan and AZ Alkmaar, played an outstanding role for Bournemouth last season. He played in every league game, contributed two goals and six assists, and was even voted into the team of the season thanks to his strong performances. Also, he has made 23 appearances for the Hungarian national team to date.

For Milos Kerkez, the move to Liverpool is more than just a career move – it is the fulfillment of a childhood dream. “It is a real honor for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, [the] biggest club in England. I am just really, really happy and excited,” he was quoted as saying on the Liverpool FC website.

The weeks leading up to the signing of the contract were full of tension for the young player. “In moments like these, you cannot be very calm, because this is Liverpool, and I wanted to be a Liverpool player. I think that is every child’s dream. Almost every day I waited to see what would happen,” the Hungarian international said in a video interview. He recounted how his father, Sebastijan Kerkez, who helps manage his career, finally gave him the news he had been waiting for: “I wanted my father to finally let me know, and about a week ago he said that things were going well and that we would be flying here this week.”

Even as a 13- or 14-year-old, Milos Kerkez had a special affection for Liverpool FC. His idols at left-back were club legends John Arne Riise and Andrew Robertson. “I am still young, I want to learn a lot and develop, and I hope to reach their level one day. This is a club that wants to win and has to win. It is a big deal that I am now part of it,” he emphasized.

Although Liverpool FC did not disclose any details about the transfer fee, British media reports suggest a sum of around £40 million and a five-year contract.

After a short break at home, Milos Kerkez is looking forward to starting preparations for the upcoming season with the Reds.

The Hungarian international is convinced that Liverpool can achieve even more after winning the championship last season by a ten-point margin.

However, you always have to strive for more, which means there is an opportunity to build on last season and improve further,”

he said.

A decisive factor in his move was the trust placed in him by the club. He revealed that both new head coach Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes – who had already played a role in his move to Bournemouth – spoke to him personally about the plans, tactics, and his potential development. “When the coach talks to you personally, it is a big deal, it is a sign of respect. That is when I finally stopped thinking about going anywhere else. Liverpool has always been my goal,” explained Kerkez.

With the arrival of Milos Kerkez, Liverpool FC not only strengthens itself in an important position, but also gains a player who is living his childhood dream with passion and clear goals. Reds fans can look forward to seeing how the Hungarian youngster will develop in the Premier League.
