Janka Végvári was crowned the winner of this year’s Miss World Hungary. The 17-year-old student from Mosonmagyaróvár (northwestern Hungary), who is enrolled in an advanced English program at a secondary school, will hold the title of Hungary’s Most Beautiful for one year and represent Hungary at the Miss World international finals.

The beauty pageant was broadcast by public media for the ninth time, with Lili Rókusfalvy and Imre Fodor serving as hosts of the final show. The sixteen finalists paraded down the catwalk in four different outfits.

The contestants first appeared on stage in sportswear, followed by the so-called creative tour, in which each girl wore a different outfit designed by a Hungarian fashion designer, this time inspired by the color of the year, mocha mousse. The contestants then took to the catwalk in national costumes designed by Millaas Fashion and evening gowns by Orsolya Dachi.

In the final, the 21-member jury, including Cecília Rogán-Szendrei and Kata Sarka, the competition director; Andrea Katzenbach, last year’s winner; and Zoltán Szívós, representing MTVA and coach at Teletorna, a televised fitness program on MTVA, cast their votes, and the contestant with the most points was crowned Miss World Hungary.

The audience watching on screen were also able to express their opinion through a public vote.

One of the most important missions of the Miss World competition, which has a history dating back more than 70 years, is to raise awareness of social responsibility at both a local and international level.

For this reason, during the camp organized to prepare the contestants, they presented their chosen charity projects in the Miss Charity sub-competition and voted for the most appealing initiative. The winner of this competition was Janka Végvári, who also won the Miss World Hungary contest.

In the domestic competition series, it was essential that the future beauty queen be hard-working, dedicated, positive, and open-minded, and speak English well, as she will have to present the charity project she has developed at the international finals. Hungary’s Beauty Queen will serve as an ambassador for the Miss Spinner Motivational Foundation for a year and will participate in its campaigns.
