We have taken another step against unjustified price increases, reducing the price of the affected drugstore products by nearly a quarter, the Ministry for National Economy announced on Tuesday. They emphasized that the government will use all means at its disposal to protect families and pensioners against such price increases.
The government has reduced the mark-up on 30 different product categories in drugstores, including household and chemical goods, as well as toiletries and beauty products, to a uniform 15 percent, making the products concerned nearly 25 percent cheaper.
Based on a sample survey by the Ministry for National Economy,
the profit margin freeze extended on May 19, has resulted in prices falling in almost 95 percent of the goods, with an average price reduction of 24.9 percent.

The biggest decrease was seen in paper towels, disposable razors, aluminum foil, shaving gel and shaving foam, and dishwasher tablets.
The measures introduced so far are contributing significantly to stimulating household consumption and reducing everyday expenses. The government’s goal is to promote economic growth through price reductions and increased consumption, the Ministry wrote.
