Anna Szilágyi has won the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) Media Award in the under-30 category.
The Hungarian Sports Journalists Association (MSÚSZ) reported on its Facebook page that the young photographer won the award with her photo of American Noah Lyles, the gold medalist in the men’s 100m at last year’s Paris Olympics, entitled “Champion.” The sports photographer, who competed in the “colors” of the EPA, received the prize on the eve of the 78th Congress of AIPS in Rabat, Morocco.
The award was presented to her by Mubarak al Boainin, a representative of the main sponsor and the Qatari Sports Press Committee (QSPC), and Dr. Zsuzsa Csisztu, Vice President of the AIPS.
Anna Szilágyi previously won this award in 2021.
The MSÚSZ recalled that the first AIPS Awards ceremony was held in Lausanne in January 2019, and the second one was hosted in Budapest in February 2020, in the framework of the 83rd AIPS Congress.
The 2022 edition was held in Doha and was attended by András Pires Muhi, who was included in the three best in the sports portrait category for his film about Olympic champion fencer Áron Szilágyi, entitled “One for All,” and finished as the best European in the competition.
The 2023 Gala was held in Seoul, where Kata Oláh received a special prize for her biopic on Ágnes Keleti (“Conquering time”). Last year in Catalonia, Márton Koncz was recognized for his work, coming in third in the young photographers category. András Dániel Kéri and Attila Szalay were also recognized.
Szilágyi’s success carries on the tradition of Hungarian media professionals in international sports journalism.
